What is TACACS+?
TACACS+ is a vendor-neutral Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) protocol that enables you to centralize and control administrator access to routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and WiFi access points.
The TACACS+ standard is supported by most Enterprise and Carrier-Class devices. Because the protocol is already included in your routers and switches, it is transparent to your users.
TACACS+ allows you to set granular access privileges based on group memberships, device type, IP address, subnet, day, time of day, or remote user IP. The protocol logs every command that is entered on the device to enable audit trails.
Users don’t need to log into any intermediate device such as an EMS or jump server. They can log in directly to a router or switch, simplifying management and making it easier for your users.
TACACS+ can be integrated into your Active Directory domain enabling Single Sign-On and you can set privileges by AD group membership.
